LOW WASTE SNACKS ••• For someone that is a natural born snacker, (literally all day) it’s hard to find low-waste, healthy snacks to munch on throughout the day. My snacks change throughout the year but once the Spring sun starts shining, all I want is fresh fruits😋 Here are some of my go-to low waste snacks for spring: - apples, cinnamon, and PB - homemade or bulk bought trail mix - sugar snap peas - popcorn - local jerky- can be bought at gas stations and local stores in bulk - any cut up fruit or veggies - bulk bought crackers or pretzels - homemade granola - granola energy bites- PB, oats, cinnamon, protein powder, dark chocolate ••• Try just swapping out one or two of your packaged snacks for one of these options this week. Try cutting up fruits and veggies to have on hand for easy grab and go! 🍐🥕🍉 ••• What are you other favorite low waste snacks?

WINDING DOWN🌛 ••• What do you do at night to calm your mind? Reflect on the day? Plan for tomorrow? I’m a huge believer in flexible routines. If I can get into a routine and allow myself to stick to it but be malleable, I find myself being the most productive. My routines have been evolving recently so here’s what I am doing before hittin’ the hay: - stretching based yoga 🤸🏼‍♀️ - short meditation 🧘🏼‍♀️ - gratitude journal and intentions for tomorrow ✨ - something creative - writing, drawing, designin🎨 - 10-15 minutes of reading📚 ••• This routine takes me about a half hour to wind myself down, reflect on the day, and relax before I go to bed. I find myself getting better sleep, waking up with a more intentional mindset, aligning with the things around me, and enjoying my time alone to wrap up my day. ••• What do you do for YOU at the end of your day?

The term: ZERO WASTE ••• You will not see me use this term too often - I prefer Low Waste. It’s not that I don’t believe in it, it’s that it has a connotation that we are producing absolutely no waste to live this lifestyle. This term is talking about a type of infrastructure where we design waste out of the system. This system does not yet exist. We do not have a full circular economy in place, yet. Even if we are shopping completely in bulk and things we deem “zero waste”, we are unaware of the trash on the upline of the distribution. As of right now, this term is an ideal that has not yet been made easy for the average consumer. ••• What does this mean? It doesn’t mean that because a circular economy is not yet active that we give up on our actions. It means we continue to raise awareness for the movement, continue to make our small changes towards a lower waste lifestyle, and continue to innovate new ways to become closer to this way of living. It is not yet easy to live like this. The resources are not yet there for everyone. There are not bulk stores on every corner or plastic free items everywhere we go. But the small changes are what will make a difference and push a change. Do what you can and make it sustainable not only for the Earth but for you as well. Don’t stress to be perfect.
